PLA+
PLA+ (also sold as PLA Plus, PLA Pro or Tough PLA) is standard PLA with additives that make prints less brittle.
Why it matters
PLA+ is not a standard. Each brand blends in its own modifiers, such as elastomers or acrylic polymers, so two spools labelled PLA+ can behave differently. Check the manufacturer’s data sheet rather than trusting the name.
The main gain is toughness. In one independent test of a modified PLA against regular PLA, the modified version absorbed roughly four times more impact energy and stayed largely intact instead of snapping. Regular PLA was stiffer and stronger in a straight pull, though.
Heat resistance is the catch. In the same test, both bars failed at the same temperature, so PLA+ does not fix PLA’s weakness in hot places. If heat is the problem, move to PETG or a different material.
PLA+ usually prints on the same settings as PLA. Some brands ask for a slightly higher nozzle temperature, so follow the spool label.
